Rachel is the Academic Director and Co-Founder of Moxie Mandarin and an Adjunct Lecturer in Chinese at Columbia University. She holds an M.A. in Chinese Linguistics and Language Acquisition from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a B.A. in TCSOL from Jinan University in China. She also completed the TCSOL program at Teachers College and Music Together teacher training.
Rachel has taught Mandarin to learners of all ages and levels through universities and language immersion programs. She believes Mandarin learning should be joyful, engaging, and meaningful, and designs lessons that build on each learner’s strengths, interests, and needs.
Outside the classroom, Rachel loves movies, getting lost in a good book, exploring museums, and traveling to new places!
Jasmine is a teaching assistant at Moxie Mandarin. She holds a B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from The City College of New York and a TQUK Level 5 certification in TEFL. Before joining Moxie, Jasmine taught after-school and ESOL programs in New York City and spent two years teaching English in Taiwan, first as a Fulbright ETA and later as a Foundation for Scholarly Exchange and Taiwan Ministry of Education English Teaching Flagship Fellow.
Jasmine believes that learning a language opens the door to new cultures and perspectives. She strives to create a warm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, building confidence, and developing authentic communication skills.
Outside the classroom, Jasmine enjoys reading, listening to music, and collecting stationery.
